Terms of Service
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Plain English, no fine-print games. These terms cover how you use ResumeTeX and what you can expect from us. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@resumetex.tech.
1Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, or by accessing or using ResumeTeX (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. If you’re using ResumeTeX on behalf of an organization, you confirm you’re authorized to accept these terms for that organization.
2What ResumeTeX is
ResumeTeX is an AI resume optimizer. You paste a job description and your resume, our AI tailors the resume to that role, and we typeset the result as a real LaTeX PDF. The Service also helps you generate cover letters and cold outreach emails, and supports an EU-style photo CV for the German, French, and Dutch markets.
We’re always improving the Service, so specific features, limits, and models may change over time.
3Your account
Authentication is handled by Clerk, our identity provider. You’re responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Use accurate information when you sign up, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Service.
4Credits & billing
ResumeTeX runs on credits. One credit equals one standard optimization. Higher “Pro” quality runs use more credits per optimization because they consume more AI inference.
- Free — 3 credits, granted once when you create your account. They do not expire and are not refilled. Accounts created before 14 August 2026 keep whatever balance they had accrued under the previous free terms.
- Pro — $10/month for 150 credits per billing period.
- One-time credit packs — buy extra credits that never expire.
Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as our merchant of record and handles billing, invoicing, and applicable taxes. Paid subscriptions auto-renew at the then-current price each period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in the billing portal; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of your current period.
5Refunds
We want billing to feel fair. On request within 7 days, we’ll generally refund unused one-time credit packs and the current period of an active subscription. Refunds may be reduced or declined where credits have already been used, or where we detect abuse of the refund policy (for example, repeatedly buying, consuming, and refunding). Reach out at hello@resumetex.tech and we’ll sort it out.
6Acceptable use
When using ResumeTeX, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything illegal or fraudulent.
- Scrape, automate, or otherwise abuse the Service outside of normal product use.
- Share a single account across multiple people.
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or steal our prompts, API keys, models, or other proprietary internals.
- Overload, disrupt, or game the free tools (for example, scripting the free optimizations or ATS checks).
We may rate-limit, suspend, or remove accounts that violate these rules.
7AI disclaimer
ResumeTeX outputs are AI-generated and may contain mistakes, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing, fact-checking, and editing every result before you send or submit it anywhere. Never use the Service to fabricate experience, credentials, or anything else that isn’t true.
We do not guarantee any particular outcome — ResumeTeX does not promise interviews, offers, or jobs.
8Intellectual property
You keep ownership of the content you submit — your resume, the job descriptions you paste, and the tailored output we generate for you. You’re free to use that output however you like.
We keep ownership of everything that makes up ResumeTeX: the platform, software, prompts, models we build on top of, design, and brand. Nothing in these terms transfers our intellectual property to you.
9“As is” — no warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will meet your expectations.
10Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ResumeTeX and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost opportunities, or lost data arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $50.
11Termination
You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, abuse the Service, or where we’re required to by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where ResumeTeX’s operator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts located there — except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere (for example, consumers in the EU and UK keep the right to bring claims in their home country).
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
